Correct Clamp Use Clamp around one insulated conductor only. Clamping around a complete cable containing both live and neutral conductors may produce a zero or incorrect reading. NCV is a preliminary indication only and must not be used as the sole method of proving a circuit is dead. Live electrical testing should only be performed by a competent person.
